- I have a male Spectacled Amazon and his best friend male Derbyan Parakeet. They are currently cage mates. They are both 7 years old and they have both been breeders as well as pets. They could be separated. They chose to move in together about 3 years ago. The spectacled is a closet talker, the Derbyan has a huge vocabulary but he has to get to know you before he graces you with his awesome communication skills.
