Greater Vasa Parrots are native to Madagascar. They are rare in the US and not often available. As pets they are active, intellegent and playful. Those that have them as pets find them very entertaining.
Vasa Parrots are quite unique. Most parrots their size iincubate their eggs for 30 days. Vasa Parrots hatch in 17 days. Thats less time than a parakeet! They fledge in only 7 to 8 weeks. During the breeding season they exhibit color changes in both skin and plumage
without molting. Very interesting birds that make wonderful pets!
