Scientific Name: Pyrrhura rupicola

Size: 25cm (10') from head to tip of tail

Weight: 70-80g

Noise Level: Low to moderate

Average Lifespan: 25-30 yrs

Minimum Cage Size: 24' x 24' x 36'

They are 9-10 inches in length, and typically weigh between 60-70 grams adult weight. ( Smaller than a Cockatiel)

As pets, the Black-Capped Conures are very sweet, social birds that love attention and time spent with their family members.

Black Capped Conures have a “clown like” personality, and are a very enjoyable companion parrot. They have been described as being very timid and shy. They love to bathe. These birds have no dander, (like a cockatiel does), making them a better choice for those with allergies.

Shy, quiter side, ( The volume level is very well suited for apartment living. ) playful, energetic, fair talker, gentle, insatiably curious.

These birds don't seem to mind a noisier household, making them more suitable for families with children

They tend to overexert, owners need to be mindful of this. They are appreciative of lots of toys and toy rotation.
